this book is a result of my personal research on type and architecture during the years 2006­2008 of the werkplaats typografie; it is part of my on-going interest on objective vs subjective matters. this book is produced with the support of korea institute of design promotion, on the occasion of the werkplaats typografie end-of-year exhibition in 2008.

type and architecture starts with the question “what makes you interested in designing, creating and living in this world?”. i often build typefaces that obtain the similar process with building spaces and architectures done by artists. according to this idea, i select images from my personal archive and organize into 10 sections. and the text is combined with small essays, interviews of others and personal writings about this subject. though the original images are placed on a4 format, by folding these pages into half size, it creates appealing interaction between images. after all with combination of these text and images, i create a poetic answer about my interests, which will be another starting point of my works.
